Licensing and financial terms

Following the execution of a standard agreement, a licensee can directly access the licensed technology by incorporating the relevant commercial Syngenta variety in their breeding program. Licensee will be granted a non-exclusive royalty-bearing license, under the Patent Rights, to use the Native Trait Technology for research, breeding and commercial purposes.

Standard License terms:

  • Allows using commercially available Syngenta varieties to access the licensed trait for research, breeding and development of new varieties
  • Licensee will pay for each:
    • "basic" trait: a fixed royalty fee
    • "differentiating" trait: a fixed fee per unit of seed
  • When applicable a trademark license will be part of the standard agreement

According to these terms, not-for-profit licensees will have access to the technologies for research purposes at no cost.
