Syngenta demo days - Week 39 Holland
Syngenta's Open Field Demo Days 2011
This autumn, Syngenta's Open Field Demo Days will take place from 27-29 September in the new demo field for Syngenta's outdoor vegetables. The address is Cornelis Kuinweg 28A in Andijk. In addition to the presentation of the available elite varieties and the most promising new varieties, vegetable growers can also witness new cultivation systems based on drip irrigation, fertigation and hydroponics.

Consumers want optimum quality, colour, shape, taste and variation. Preferably all at once! This presents both Syngenta and growers with an exciting challenge. However, it also demands significant investment in new varieties and technology. Under the title 'Fields of Innovation', Syngenta is presenting the results of its investment in improved varieties and technology. Syngenta's range of successful varieties will also be showcased.
Utmost quality in a single location
The Fields of Innovation offer you an up-to-date overview of plant and vegetable varieties, crop protection and innovative cultivation technology.
- Demo fields featuring all established varieties and promising new varieties of sprouts, headed cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, courgette, beans and sweetcorn.
- Test plots will demonstrate Syngenta's most effective applications of herbicides, fungicides and insecticides for cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli.
- Innovative sustainable cultivation systems using drip irrigation and hydroponics (cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and lettuce).

Sustainable cultivation technology
During the Open Field Demo Days, visitors will make acquaintance with cutting-edge systems for the cultivation of cauliflowers, broccoli, cabbages and lettuce at the Zwaagdijk Test Plot. Drip irrigation and hydroponics are innovative systems that significantly reduce the emission of nutrients and crop protection agents, as well as minimising the influence of soil-related diseases. Furthermore, they increase productivity and give the grower more control over quality, delivery and crop reliability. Demo fields compare and contrast traditional cultivation with both drip irrigation and a combination of drip irrigation and fertigation. Hydroponics is a completely new area of innovation. This is a cultivation method in which plants are grown entirely on water. Demo basins have been installed to demonstrate the cultivation of lettuce, endives, cauliflowers and broccoli using this method.
